La Trobe's 2016 Academic Writing Month is officially here! For the full program and registration details, visit this year's introductory post.

For 2016, the RED team is again running an #LTUawrimo photo competition. This year's theme is "Reflect".

The theme can mean different things, and we hope you'll translate it creatively and insightfully! Will the image reflect how you think through your writing, envision your research self, or visualise your project workload for that day? Is it an aspect of your research that is reflected or bounced back? Can you capture the understanding or progress you might gain from reflection?

This competition, with a fabulous book voucher prize, is open to all La Trobe University researchers (graduate researchers and staff) who have signed up for the #LTUacwrimo challenge.

To enter, take a photo that aligns with the theme, and submit it via Twitter (full guidelines below).

It's as simple as that!

The photo competition's judging criteria are:
  • the quality, composition, and aesthetics of the photo; and
  • the photo's interpretation of the chosen theme
The fresher your interpretation of the theme, the better!

The photos will be judged by a panel of three enthusiastic La Trobe staff from various levels and areas of expertise.

Our judges this year are:

  • Associate Professor Miranda Rose (APVC-Research, College of SHE)
  • Mr Carl Dziunka (Graduate researchers, College of ASSC)
  • Ms Fiona Salisbury (Deputy Director - Learning and Teaching, Library)

Entries for the #LTUacwrimo photo competition must be received by 4.30pm on MONDAY 21 November.

Conditions of competition:
  • Photos should be submitted via Twitter. The entry tweets MUST include the #LTUacwrimo tag and a short, snappy caption.
If you don't have a Twitter account and would like to enter the competition, please email your photo entry to t.khoo@latrobe.edu.au, nominating the theme you've chosen, by 4.30pm FRIDAY 18 November. Non-Twitter entries will not be accepted after this day.
  • The photo entry must be a single image, not a collage.
  • Besides basic photo editing for clarity and size (e.g. contrast/lightening, cropping, and resizing), photos must not be digitally altered.
  • Photos must be taken during the #LTUacwrimo photo competition period (1-21 November 2016).
  • You may post more than one photo during the competition round but you must nominate one competition entry for judging.
  • Note that all entries to the photo competition may be used for #LTUacwrimo promotion and communications. All images used in this way will acknowledge the photographer.
  • The judges' decision is final.
Good luck, and happy snapping! The winner of the photo competition will be announced on Monday 30 November at the closing #LTUacwrimo tweetchat.
